Jorvi Hospital construction projects

We are renovating several major sites at Jorvi Hospital. In addition, we are planning a new building in the area to replace the inpatient ward towers of the current hospital.

Jorvin sairaala

With renovations and additional construction, we are preparing for an increase in demand as we strengthen the emergency care role of Jorvi Hospital. With the renovations, we aim, among other things, to ensure sufficient operating room capacity.

We will carry out the renovations in stages and by concatenating the periods when the units need to be temporarily moved to other locations.

Renovation of the operating rooms and the premises of the cardiac center and laboratory

We will renovate the main operating rooms of Jorvi Hospital and the facilities below them in 2019–2023. After the renovation, our hospital will have 20 operating rooms. All the new operating rooms will be suitable for the treatment of all our patient groups.

The floor below the surgery unit houses new facilities for our cardiac research activities. In addition, we will build new facilities on this floor for the HUSLAB chemistry, hematology, and pathology laboratories.

Plan for a new building for inpatient wards

In spring 2020, we started project planning for the new inpatient ward building at Jorvi Hospital. The new building will be located on the site of our existing separate buildings for pediatrics at Jorvi.

The new inpatient ward building will replace ward towers S, K and N, which are in poor condition and are no longer suitable for current requirements in specialist medical care.

The new building will house the inpatient wards and outpatient clinics for Jorvi Hospital's Children and Adolescents unit, as well as the medical imaging unit. Our childbirth activities along with the maternity wards, which are currently operating in temporary facilities at Espoo Hospital, will also be transferring to the new building in their entirety.
