Clinical trials involving children

The Clinical Trial Unit at the New Children’s Hospital is Finland’s largest research unit dedicated to promoting the health of children and adolescents. We generate evidence-based information to provide the best possible care for our patients.

We currently have approximately 50 pharmaceutical or device trials in progress. We work in close cooperation with companies in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. We conduct a wide range of research into diseases affecting children and adolescents, such as diabetes, migraine, surgical conditions, and rare diseases. Half of the research is conducted on cancer. Our research investigates the methods provided by pharmaceuticals, treatments, medical devices, and diagnostics to detect various diseases at an early stage and to improve treatment.

Extensive national and international collaboration ensures that our patients have quick access to the latest and most effective treatments. Through our collaborative networks, we are laying the groundwork for high-quality care at the children’s hospital that offers the most comprehensive specialized healthcare services in Finland.
