Google Analytics is a program used to collect information on how the hus.fi website is used. It monitors website activity and page visits (keeping track for instance of most popular content, most often used terminal devices, and session durations). These details are collected for statistical and website improvement purposes. The data collected, such as the users’ IP addresses, are anonymized and cannot be linked to a specific user or that user’s IP address.
Google Analytics is also used to analyze the age distribution of users for those users who have enabled targeted Google ads. HUS does not use these data for advertising; user age distribution is monitored simply for the purposes of website development. Users may manage targeted Google advertising here (in English): https://support.google.com/ads/answer/2662856
Google Analytics is also used to analyze users’ approximate geographical locations, based on anonymized IP addresses. This information is used for instance to track website usage rates in various parts of the Helsinki University Hospital Specific Catchment Area.
