HUS Acamedic - secure operating environment
HUS Acamedic is a secure, scalable, virtual, audited operating environment that meets the Finnish Secondary Use Act.
HUS Acamedic complies with Findata's regulations and is registered in Valvira's Toini register. It operates on the public internet, virtually around the world if necessary, so it also enables global research. HUS Acamedic is available not only for the public sector, but also for the private sector.

HUS Acamedic currently offers three virtual desktops on default to all groups to navigate the (operating) environment. The options are Microsoft Windows, Linux Ubuntu and HPC Linux (high performance computing). Virtual desktops run as Citrix virtual desktops.
In HUS Acamedic, data can be used from different sources. The use of HUS Acamedic is therefore not dependent on the HUS data. The storage capacity of data in the operating environment is usually 5 terabytes, which can be easily increased to 100 terabytes. On a case-by-case basis, larger datasets are also possible. All major storage formats are accepted as data formats. The data is transferred to the research environment by the HUS data service. Own tools, software and source codes can be brought into the research environment with certain limitations and must be agreed on a case-by-case basis. Tools that violate Findata's regulations and/or secondary laws cannot be brought into the research environment.
