Neuropsychological studies and rehabilitation
Keywords:Neuropsychological research studies help us understand how the brain processes data, regulates emotions, and guides behavior. The studies will help us assess whether there has been changes in these activities, how significant they are and how they affect the person’s functional capacity.

Neuropsychological studies can help us assess, for example, the ability to work, study, cope independently in everyday life or drive a car, and identify strengths in cognitive functions. In addition, the studies often allow an assessment of the need and possibilities for rehabilitation.
In neuropsychological research studies, we can assess information processing functions such as concentration, memory, linguistic functions and visual perception, as well as emotional regulation and behavior, current life situation factors and various background factors.
Neuropsychological studies may be needed, for example:
- to assess changes caused by neurological diseases and injuries such as cerebrovascular disturbances, brain injuries, brain tumors, epilepsy or MS
- to identify progressive memory diseases
- to assess other organic diseases or symptoms, such as changes caused by resuscitation sequelae
- to perform an assessment of the ability to work or study
- to assess the need for rehabilitation and the impact of the rehabilitation already completed
- to assess developmental language disorders and severe reading and writing disorders
- to identify the neuropsychological characteristics associated with developmental neuropsychiatric disorders.
Neuropsychological rehabilitation
Neuropsychological rehabilitation is based on an assessment of rehabilitation needs made by a neuropsychologist. You need a physician’s referral for rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation may be needed for neuropsychological syndromes, such as sudden-onset cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), for example, following a cerebral hemorrhage or stroke, or brain injuries. The aim of neuropsychological rehabilitation is to alleviate the harm caused by the changes in data processing, emotional regulation and behavioral changes due to the brain disease or injury.
Through rehabilitation, we aim to improve and maintain functional and working capacity, improve quality of life, and help people adapt to difficulties. Neuropsychological rehabilitation is based on the understanding that mental functions are linked to brain function, and that neural networks can be shaped and learning is possible.
