Changes to laboratories in the Lappeenranta area
Keywords:The opening hours and services of HUS laboratories located in Lappeenranta will change starting from March 9, 2026.
The opening hours of the South Karelia Central Hospital laboratory will be extended. Starting from March 9, 2026, the laboratory will be open Monday to Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and on Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In May, the opening hours will be extended to weekends: from May 9, 2026, the laboratory will be open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Leiri laboratory will only serve customers by appointment and urgent customers until April 30, 2026, after which its services will be transferred to the South Karelia Central Hospital. The Leiri laboratory is closing due to water damage that prevents continued use of the premises.
”By extending the opening hours of the South Karelia Central Hospital laboratory, we can better serve customers who find it difficult to visit the laboratory during daytime on weekdays. The hospital facilities also offer better accessibility and plenty of parking space. We are also expanding the waiting area to avoid crowding,” says Unit Chief Anna-Maaret Kahila.
Laboratories in South Karelia primarily operate by appointment. Same-day appointments are widely available, and emergency patients can always have samples taken whenever needed. The South Karelia Central Hospital laboratory and the Imatrankoski laboratory also serve customers without an appointment.
