Investigating suspected abuse of a child
Keywords:Child abuse can take the form of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, or it can refer to the neglect of a child’s needs. We investigate allegations of child abuse in cases where the pre-trial investigation authority has requested an assessment from the Forensic Psychology Center for Children and Adolescents.
Our investigations may include compiling summaries of background information on children to support the decision-making of the police, conducting forensic psychological interviews with children and adolescents, and providing expert opinions on the reliability of a child’s account and the harmful nature of the suspects’ actions. In addition, we provide psychosocial support to children and families during the pre-trial investigation, if needed.
