Käyttäytymisen säätelyn häiriöt

Oppositional defiant disorders and conduct disorders are the most common child psychiatric disorders. They are complex disorders with the main symptom being long-term (6 months or more) defiant, aggressive, or antisocial behavior abnormal to the child’s age level, that causes problems in age-appropriate social relationships and performance.

Defiant and conduct disorders cannot be explained by any single factor alone. According to the current understanding, many factors can expose a child to such disorders: genome, biological and psychosocial environmental factors, as well as their combined effect. The disorders are more common in boys than in girls.

Conduct disorders often involve developmental problems, such as learning disabilities and developmental speech and language disorders, as well as associated diseases, such as ADHD. To help a child, you must understand the situation of the child, the family, and the kindergarten or school. The best results in the treatment of conduct disorders in children are obtained by providing guidance in parenting skills to support the positive relationship between the child and the parent, strengthen the positive behavior of the child, and extinguish unwanted behavior.
