Our Psychiatric Inpatient Care Unit for Children with Intellectual Disability in Lahti is a unit for advanced-level multiprofessional support as defined in the Disability Services Act (Vammaispalvelulaki) for children under the age of 13. At our inpatient care unit, we provide psychiatric treatment and examination periods for people with intellectual disability, as well as involuntary special care defined in the Special Care Act (Erityishuoltolaki).
At our unit, we examine and treat children with challenges related to intellectual disability or psychiatric symptoms. We also perform examinations of intellectual disability or its severity.
We offer care according to the patient's individual needs with a focus on assessing and supporting the patient’s functional capacity, medicinal and non-medicinal treatment, and finding care models, structures and communication methods best suited for each child.
We cooperate with the child, their family, and school.
