At the appointment, we diagnose intellectual disabilities and assess the mental health and challenging behavior of patients of all ages with intellectual disability. We provide advanced-level medication assessments, differential diagnostics in psychiatry, and expert assessments to support rehabilitation plans made by the patient’s wellbeing services county. In addition, we provide multiprofessional assessments in special cases of disability, such as autism spectrum disorders and multi-sensory impairment. We do not provide long-term follow-up care and during the treatment contact with us, the overall treatment responsibility remains with the referring unit.
Intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder diagnostics take place at HUS New Children's Hospital and at the Neuropsychiatry Outpatient Clinic.
