New strategy approved at the EUHA Members’ Assembly hosted by HUS
At the Members’ Assembly held at the end of HUS’s EUHA Presidency, the European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA) approved its renewed strategy and HUS handed over the Presidency to Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris.
A total of around 120 participants from 11 countries attended the EUHA Members’ Assembly and related events held on 18–20 May 2026, which marked the culmination of HUS’s EUHA Presidency.
The most significant decision of the Assembly was the approval of EUHA’s updated strategy for 2026–2030. “The key objective of the strategy update was to define clear priorities, and in this we succeeded,” says HUS CEO Matti Bergendahl.
The new strategy period defines five priority areas: Developing and Implementing Advanced Care; Facilitating Cross-Border Research and Innovation; Fostering Future-Oriented Education and Training; Influencing at European Level; and Rethinking Healthcare Systems.
At the end of the Assembly, the EUHA Presidency was handed over from HUS to Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris for the next six months.
“In addition to the intensive strategy update, during our Presidency we have worked together with the other EUHA member hospitals to advance many other important issues, such as advocacy efforts and the preparation of EU funding applications. The Presidency has been a great honor for us and an excellent opportunity to deepen our collaboration with the other EUHA members. We are confident that this close collaboration will continue seamlessly under the new Presidency,” says Bergendahl.
Alongside the Members’ Assembly concluding HUS’s EUHA Presidency, HUS organized the Inspired Professionals Symposium to highlight the importance of our skilled and motivated professionals in the future of healthcare. Read more about the symposium.
Three of EUHA’s 12 working groups and networks — the Policy Working Group, the LIVE Working Group and the Midwifery Network — met in connection with the Members’ Assembly hosted by HUS. In addition to their own meetings, the groups took part in a networking event where they shared updates on their current work and topics.
