Our logistics center is located in Vantaankoski, accessible by good transport connections. It houses our reception and dispatch center operations and also our central warehouse, where we stock approximately 5,500 of the most ordered product items.

Other products arrive from suppliers to our logistics center based on customer orders and are combined with products ordered by the customers from our warehouse. The shipments are delivered to the customer in connection with their usual delivery date.

A small number of products are delivered directly from the goods supplier to the customer. Our entire product range covers approximately 70,000 items.

At the logistics center, we coordinate distribution transports from the warehouse to the customers.

We are responsible for transporting various materials within the HUS hospitals and the units of our other customers. Internal goods transports within hospitals include, for example, the transport of meals, laundry and waste, as well as the transport of disposable medical supplies.
In addition, we transport other materials, such as instruments, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, as agreed.

One of the services we provide to our customers is the refill service, where our logistics workers order and shelve disposable medical supplies in a refill service warehouse located on the customer's premises. In addition, our employees are responsible for the expiration date management of the products and the appropriateness of the stored product range together with the customer.

We also offer a separate healthcare logistics service where healthcare logisticians are responsible for ensuring that the disposable basic medical supplies and patient-specific medical supplies required for the procedures are in the right place and at the right time. Together with the nursing staff, our healthcare logisticians are responsible for the optimal product range of a ward and for ensuring that there is an adequate supply of products.

This means that different types of procurement items are divided into the following seven groups:

• Surgery, internal medicine and cardiology
• Anesthesia and intensive care
• Radiation technology and imaging
• Laboratory
• Primary health care
• Health and social services
• Services and ICT

Each category team employs a category manager and procurement experts.

In addition, a separately appointed tendering team supports procurement categories in the tendering process.

Benefits of the category model

The objective of the category division is to achieve more satisfied customers, better supplier cooperation, and better planning of procurement.

Customers will benefit from the new model because cooperation between the customer and procurement operations will increase, but also the product, service and equipment expertise of the procurement experts will grow within their own category.

HUS as a whole will also benefit from the category model, as it will now have better opportunities to plan its purchases and keep contracts up-to-date. In addition, the new model will enable closer cooperation with suppliers.

Our goal is to conclude long-term framework agreements and annual contracts with suppliers of goods and services. The agreements are binding on the Joint Authority's user units.
New contracting parties will be selected in connection with the competitive tendering.
The functioning of the market and the equal treatment of suppliers are particularly important to us.
