Fundus photography of the eye

You will need a doctor’s or nurse’s referral for fundus screening. You can book an appointment online via the Maisa portal or by phone.

Fundus photography does not require any preparations on your part. You do not need to arrive early for your appointment. The photography takes a few minutes, but please reserve about an hour for the examination, because the time of onset of the effect of the mydriatic drops that dilate the pupil is individual. Remove your contact lenses before arriving for the examination. If you are allergic to eye drops, please mention this to the staff.

During the examination, you will sit in front of the camera and look at a fixation point. When the photographs are taken, a powerful flashlight is used, which will glare the eye momentarily.

After the examination, the dilation drops will affect your vision for approximately 2–3 hours. Sunglasses will provide protection against the glare. Driving is not recommended after the examination. The unit treating you will provide you with the results of the examination.
