Follow-up of breast cancer
After your breast cancer treatments, your follow-up will continue at the Comprehensive Cancer Center for a period of 5 to 10 years according to your individual treatment plan.
Depending on your treatment plan, you will undergo a mammography examination either annually or every other year. As your control appointment approaches, you will receive instructions on how to schedule a mammogram. In accordance with the radiologist’s opinion, we will also perform an ultrasound scan, if necessary.
If you wish, your follow-up care can also include clinic appointments. You can let us know your preference when you schedule your mammogram. Otherwise, we will send the results of your mammogram to your home address by mail. If we notice anything unusual during the tests, we will contact you and schedule an appointment if necessary. We will check the blood tests again in connection with the first appointment. After this, blood tests will continue to be monitored in primary healthcare as needed.
During the follow-up phase, rehabilitation – such as mental health support or physiotherapy – is arranged through a health center or occupational healthcare services.
