Treatment of brain cancer

The treatment of a brain tumor is always planned on an individual basis. The treatment will depend on the type of tumor, its malignancy, its location and in what way and how fast it is growing. The choice of treatment will also depend on your age and general condition, any underlying conditions you may have and your preferences. We will develop your treatment plan as part of a multidisciplinary team at HUS.

How are brain tumors treated?

Brain tumors vary by rate of growth and malignancy. Generally, they do not spread beyond the central nervous system. There is no room inside the skull for any extra growth. Even a benign, slow growing tumor will eventually cause problems, as it increases brain pressure and displaces healthy brain tissue.
