Johanna Kaartinen continues as Director of Emergency Medicine and Services: “We are experts in urgent situations and patient encounters”
Keywords:Johanna Kaartinen has been appointed the permanent Director of Emergency Medicine and Services at HUS starting September 1st. She has served in the position on an interim basis for two years. Emergency Medicine and Services is responsible for emergency departments, emergency medical services (EMS), and patient transportation at HUS.
Kaartinen began her career at HUS as a specializing physician in 1996. She has worked in emergency medicine in several roles: as chief physician, head physician, administrative chief physician, and head of emergency departments.
“It’s amazing to continue in this role on a permanent basis. Meeting patients, improving operations, and working closely with other professionals have always been the parts of emergency medicine that inspire me. The work at Emergency Medicine and Services is varied, demanding, and very rewarding at the same time”, says Kaartinen.
Kaartinen sees its highly skilled staff as the department's strongest asset.

Kaartinen praises the strong and smooth collaboration with other HUS departments and other organizations.
