HUS recommends that people in at-risk groups get influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations through their wellbeing services county

Keywords:

HUS has previously operated vaccination points in its hospitals where influenza and/or COVID-19 vaccinations were administered without an appointment. This year, these vaccination points will no longer be provided. Instead, free vaccinations are available through primary healthcare services in Helsinki and the wellbeing services counties.

In line with the recommendations of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), HUS considers it important that people who are at risk of severe influenza and COVID-19 take these vaccinations.

HUS influenza and COVID-19 vaccination points for at-risk individuals and their family members have been popular and have highlighted the importance of vaccination for those vulnerable to severe disease.

However, these vaccination points have been supplemental services as vaccination is the duty of primary healthcare services arranged by City of Helsinki and the wellbeing services counties. Most people in the target group have received their vaccination from primary healthcare services.

Most primary healthcare vaccination points operate by appointment. City of Helsinki and all Uusimaa wellbeing services counties have opened their appointment booking for vaccinations. Appointment-based vaccination helps reduce long lines, waiting times, and the risk of infection.

In line with the recommendations of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), HUS considers it important that people who are at risk of severe influenza and COVID-19 take these vaccinations. Getting vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 is an effective way to protect your health and reduce the risk of serious illness.

HUS will continue to vaccinate staff and patients treated at HUS

HUS aims to vaccinate adult and child patients who receive treatment or follow-up care at HUS during their appointments or hospital stays throughout the epidemic season. In addition, the Comprehensive Cancer Center will operate a separate walk-in vaccination point in October for cancer patients receiving treatment at HUS.

Influenza vaccination coverage among HUS staff has exceeded 95% for several years, and staff vaccinations will also begin in October.
