Goal 4: Continue energy efficiency efforts with a new energy efficiency agreement among municipalities

Attain 7.5% savings in annual energy consumption from 2015 to the end of 2025 through energy conservation measures. 1. 2,601 MWh (1%) accumulated savings in 2019 1. In 2018, accumulated savings of 6,190 MWh (2.4%) was attained. The accumulated savings for 2019 was 1,823 MWh. The estimated accumulated savings for 2017 to 2019 combined exceeds an annual average of 2,601 MWh.

Goal 5: Consider corporate responsibility more carefully in HUS procurements
Action Implementation
Increase application of ethical criteria in HUS procurements. Ethical criteria were included as absolute requirements or benchmarks in 62% of the joint procurements managed by HUS Logistics. The ethical procurement guide was updated in collaboration with university hospitals.
Replace PVC hoses with PVC-free products by the end of 2020. PVC is considered in all market talks concerning products containing PVC; by default, PVC-free products are sourced. HUS Logistics considers in all competitive tenders whether any particular product contains PVC. PVC will be completely banned as soon as possible. We no longer use disposable gloves containing PVC.
Promote environmentally friendly options in the mobility of HUS personnel and patients. 1. Explore potential for rerouting and timetabling of public transport to improve mobility in the Meilahti area; HUS Facilities Center. 2. Support cycling by improving fittings at properties; HUS Facilities Center 3. Facilitate cycling and use of public transport and encourage these through communications. 1. Park-and-ride needs for employees in the Meilahti Hospital area presented to Helsinki Regional transport.
2. Bike racks obtained for the Meilahti campus, and a plan for bike racks on the site drawn up. Bike racks allowing frame locks procured at Jorvi and Porvoo. More bike racks will be obtained once space is freed up from construction sites.
3. Several bulletins on cycling and public transport as part of smart mobility have already been published on Yammer, in the HUS Intranet and in Husari.
Goal 6: Consider the life cycle environmental impacts of properties.

Consider corporate environmental responsibility in designing the HUS JCI quality system, for instance in the section ‘Facility Management and Safety’. Guidelines in the JCI system for hazardous materials and waste drawn up.
