Oak Hospital
In the spring of 2021, we started building the Oak Hospital next to the Meilahti campus close to our Skin and Allergy Hospital.
We are building more than 200 outpatient appointment rooms, 15 operating rooms, and a 12-bed inpatient ward in Oak Hospital. There will be a parking facility with 100 parking spaces in the basement level, through which also the escort traffic of our patients will be directed.
In terms of traffic, Oak Hospital is situated in a challenging location, which is why we have paid special attention to the traffic planning of the street network. We are negotiating the traffic arrangements with the City of Helsinki.
Eye hospital of the future
All fields of eye diseases will operate in Oak Hospital. Finland’s leading eye hospital will open in 2025, and it will work to provide vision, functional capacity and a good quality of life.
The new building has been planned on an accelerated schedule, as our current facilities do not enable patients to have adequate access to treatment, nor do they allow for sufficient development of the specialty of ophthalmology or its teaching and research. The number of ophthalmological patients has increased significantly over the past decade due to the increasing number of common eye diseases in the ageing population. In addition, new treatment methods have made effective treatment available for an increasing number of our eye patients.
In planning the operations of Oak Hospital, we are also prepared for the treatment of patients in other specialties
