Raseborg Hospital’s sleep school is intended for children from 6 months to 1.5 years of age experiencing trouble in sleeping. Sleep school is available with a referral from a pediatrician.
Sleep school is intended for children older than six months of age experiencing sleep disorders. The best time to start in sleep school is at the age of 7–12 months. The purpose of sleep school is to teach the child to fall asleep again after waking up during the night without requiring the parents to take action.
Sleep school takes three nights, from Friday afternoon until 9 a.m. on Monday morning.
We provide information to the parents on the ward on the implementation of the sleep school. Using a questionnaire, we survey the child’s circadian rhythm, eating habits, and sleep disturbances. We help and guide the family to find a daytime rhythm that suits their everyday life. Together we agree on the child’s day rhythm and bedtime.
Upon arrival on the ward, the child undergoes a medical examination, their height and weight is recorded and the child is observed on the ward.
