Remote Appointments at Emergency Department

At a remote appointment, you will meet with a doctor from the emergency department via video. You can meet with a doctor via video with a mobile phone or a tablet by downloading the Maisa app from an app store, or with a computer and an internet browser at the address www.maisa.fi . 

You may be directed to a remote appointment by calling the toll-free Medical Helpline 116117. A nurse from the Medical Helpline will assess your need for care and the urgency and if your issue can be treated remotely or if you need to go to the hospital’s emergency department.

To ensure patient safety, the cases treated at the remote appointments are very limited, urgent health issues that cannot wait until the health centers open. Health care professionals always assess the need for care and direct the patients to remote appointments based on that assessment.  

The emergency departments at Hyvinkää, Jorvi, and Peijas offer remote appointments on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

• Make sure you are in a place where your mobile connection is good.
• Make sure your device has enough battery for the appointment. 
• Download the Maisa app from an app store.
• Alternatively, you can use a computer and an internet browser to attend the video appointment at www.maisa.fi. Make sure your computer has a camera. 
• You need to have a mobile certificate or online banking credentials for strong identification. 
• Be on time, there are only a limited number of remote appointments available.
• Log in to the app well in advance before your appointment is scheduled to begin.

At the end of the remote appointment, the doctor will give you instructions on what to do next.  

Urgent remote appointments are subject to a fee. The cost is 80% of a regular emergency department visit fee. Patient fees.
