Basic Research
The Department of Neurosurgery at Helsinki University Central Hospital is one of the largest neurovascular centers in the world, treating about 300 patients a year with cerebral aneurysms.
The department has published several classics in aneurysm and subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) literature, concerning e.g. risk factors of SAH and timing of aneurysm surgery as well as imaging of cerebral aneurysms. With a busy clinic and lot of clinical research behind us, now we have the great opportunity to try to find answers to some clinical problems with basic research as well in Biomedicum Helsinki.
