We treat various cervical cell changes in all our gynecological outpatient clinics. We have centralized the colposcopies and loop electrosurgical excision procedures (LEEP) for the examination and treatment of the most severe cell changes in the Ruoholahti Gynecological Outpatient Clinic.

Cervical cancer and its precursors may occur in the cervix, and the resulting cell changes are detected in gynecological smear specimens. We monitor minor changes, for example, with Pap smear specimens and papillomavirus tests. Minor changes have a very good tendency of healing on their own.

The papillomavirus (HPV) may remain latent on the skin or mucous membrane and can reactivate at a later stage. For this reason, monitoring of HPV patients is necessary first through outpatient visits and later through the screenings provided by primary health care.
