Appointment booking instructions for laboratory and imaging examinations

Laboratory tests: Book a laboratory appointment online. When booking, you will receive instructions on cancelling or rescheduling your booked appointment.

Medical imaging: Residents of Uusimaa will be able to use the Maisa patient portal for booking appointments for some imaging examinations. You can find the Maisa portal at www.maisa.fi

The following common X-ray examinations are conducted without appointment:

• bone and lung imaging 
• dental imaging.

For these examinations, you are free to choose the location where you go for your examinations. Find the most suitable X-ray unit from our walk-in X-ray units.

If you have received a referral for

• scoliosis imaging
• lower limb mechanical axis measurement

book an appointment in advance by calling our customer service.

Adults can book an appointment for an ultrasound examination by telephone via our customer service.

Examinations for children, i.e. for patients under the age of 16, can only be booked by phone. 

Exceptions to making appointments:

Ultrasound examination of the mammary gland for a person under 35 years of age; book an appointment by phone:

Customer service

Book an appointment for a mammography from our customer service. Please take previous mammography images with you, if you have had examinations done elsewhere than a HUS Hospital.

We do not perform breast cancer screening in HUS Medical Imaging Center. They are carried out by your municipality. For more information on screenings, please refer to the website of the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Customer service-

Bone density measurements are carried out in the Elielinaukio X-ray unit, Park Hospital, Hyvinkää Hospital, and Jorvi Hospital.

In the examination, it is important that the measurement is always done using the same device. The examination unit is determined by your home municipality. 

Adults coming for examination at the Elielinaukio X-ray unit, can book an appointment by phone via our customer service. Examination appointments for children, i.e. for patients under the age of 16, can only be booked by phone. 

For those arriving in other units, the appointment date will be notified in a letter sent to the person’s home address.

Customer service

We will send you a letter to your home address with details of the appointment. You may have already been scheduled an appointment or you will receive instructions in the letter on how to make an appointment yourself, for example, by using online booking.

You will be notified of your appointment via a letter, if you will be arriving for the following examinations:

• magnetic resonance imaging
• computed tomography
• sleep studies
• EEG (electroencephalography)
• ECG (electrocardiogram)
• polysomnography to be conducted at home
• ENG (neurography/electroneuromyography)
• scintigraphy of kidney function

For some polysomnography studies at home, you can book an appointment online. You will receive instructions in a letter sent to your home address.

HUS Ophthalmology is responsible of fundus photography screening for diabetics in Helsinki and Uusimaa wellbeing services counties. You can book an appointment for examination online via the Maisa portal or by calling our customer service.

You can book an appointment for your child in any laboratory. Appointments are made online or by phone.

All imaging appointments for children under 16 years of age can only be made by phone via our customer service.
