No visits allowed to emergency department due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Changes to the emergency services and seeking care at Raseborg Hospital
The joint emergency service providing primary and specialised medical care at Raseborg Hospital will end on 30 September 2020. A 24-hour primary heath care emergency service run by HUS will be established from 1 October instead. This will result in major changes for patients seeking care in the Västra Nyland area.
How to seek treatment from 1 October onwards
Before going to the emergency clinic, you should call the free Medical Helpline number 116 117. The Medical Helpline will refer you to the appropriate care provider and give you advice on self-care.
In an emergency (such as severe chest pain, difficulty breathing or symptoms of paralysis), always call the emergency number 112 directly.
Your need for emergency care will therefore always be assessed over the telephone. You should no longer contact Raseborg Hospital directly for an assessment of your care needs, as with effect from 1 October, the hospital will no longer have capacity to provide emergency care.
Emergency services at Raseborg Hospital from 1 October
From 1 October onwards, the new primary health care emergency department at Raseborg Hospital will only care for patients who have suddenly fallen ill or been injured and who require emergency care within 24 hours of the onset of illness or injury. Examples of such health problems are:
- Sudden swelling of one leg
- Sudden fever
- Unbearable back pain
- Injury caused by an accident, which causes symptoms which you cannot cope with at home, such as bleeding, severe pain or difficulty walking
- Nosebleeds which will not stop
- Anxiety or depression which has suddenly become more severe
In future, accident and emergency patients within the Västra Nyland area who are in need of more acute and demanding specialized healthcare will be cared for by Lohja Hospital’s joint emergency service or on the basis of an assessment of care needs by other emergency services at HUS.
