Family Friends are trained volunteers over the age of 25 from HelsinkiMissio, providing presence, support, and practical assistance to patients and their families.
Family Friends can be met on weekdays in the sibling play space on the 1st floor – and elsewhere in the hospital if necessary. You will recognize the Family Friends volunteers from their pink T-shirts.
Family Friends organize activities for children and adolescents being treated at the hospital. In addition, you can ask a Family Friend to accompany you when running errands outside the hospital or to help you, for example, when transferring from the hospital to the train station or airport or to meet you at the station when arriving for a hospital stay.
For assistance or escorting services, a Family Friend can be booked from Family Friends on duty at the sibling play space or Kari Koponen, Project Coordinator at HelsinkiMissio, (tel. 044 784 6534 or firstname.lastname@example.org@irevakehrep )
HelsinkiMissio is a politically and religiously independent social organization. Family Friends are not health care professionals.
