OLKA® refers to coordinated organization and volunteering activity at hospitals. Our purpose is to offer patients and their loved ones unhurried encounters and support in coming to terms with their disease. OLKA is a joint operation of HUS and HyTe [Community of NGOs].
OLKA service point, Meilahti Tower Hospital
Come and see us at the OLKA service point at Meilahti Tower Hospital! The OLKA service point is located in the lobby on the entry level of Meilahti Tower Hospital.
OLKA service points provide brochures and magazines from patient associations. The service points also hold theme days where patient associations and hospital units talk about what they do and explain the forms of support that they can offer.
These theme days are open to everyone free of charge.
OLKA volunteer activities at Meilahti Tower Hospital
You will recognize OLKA volunteers by their light green vests. These volunteers are trained for their duties, and they are bound by a confidentiality obligation. The purpose of the volunteers is not to replace nursing staff. The volunteers are there for you!
At Meilahti Tower Hospital, volunteers work as lobby assistants, and provide peer support (OLKA service point and wards M8, M9, and M10), digital cardiac health advice (wards M8 and M9), and casual conversation company (Ward M12). You may also inquire about peer support or try out the peer-to-peer search engine of the Peer Hub.
