###   Late pregnancy (more than 22 weeks of pregnancy)

You can seek treatment at the emergency clinic of your maternity hospital without a referral, if you have

- hemorrhage (slight mucous bleeding in late pregnancy in connection with pre-labor contractions is normal)
- suspicion of sudden deterioration of fetal wellbeing (baby is not moving)
- symptoms of rapidly developing pre-eclampsia (sharply elevated blood pressure, swelling, proteinuria, headache, chest pain, eye symptoms)
- sudden, persistent, severe abdominal pain (pain relief medication will not help)
- a risk of premature delivery (rupture of fetal membranes and/or painful and regular contractions).

###   Childbirth

If you are coming in to give birth, please call the childbirth helpline, tel. **09 471 71500**. The midwife who answers the phone will assess your situation and direct you to the appropriate hospital. In the choice of maternity hospital, your wishes are the main deciding factor followed by medical criteria and availability in the maternity hospitals.
