Perioperative and Intensive Care operates in Uusimaa.  Our department includes the HUS Simulation Center, and a unit that provides research, education, and expert services. Our department also has its own customer panel. ## Divisions ### Perioperative division I --- We are in charge of anesthesia in Jorvi, Lohja, Raasepori hospitals as well as in the New Children´s Hospital and the Women´s Hospital as well as all perioperative function in Jorvi and Lohja Hospital. Anesthesia activities also include general anesthesia and pain relief provided outside the operating rooms, such as the treatment of labor pain. ### Perioperative division II --- We are in charge of anesthesia as well as perioperative functions in Hyvinkää and Peijas hospitals as well as the Park Hospital. We are also in charge of anesthesia in the Eye and Ear Hospital. Anesthesia activities also include general anesthesia and pain relief provided outside the operating rooms, such as the treatment of labor pain. ### Perioperative division III --- We are in charge of anesthesia and perioperative functions in Meilahti Tower Hospital and Bridge Hospital, and Porvoo Hospital. Anesthesia activities also include general anesthesia and pain relief provided outside the operating rooms. ### Intensive Care division --- We are responsible for the activities of the intensive care and intermediate care units and for the development of these activities. Intensive care includes the maintenance of vital functions of a critically ill patient and the treatment of the patient in the intensive care or intermediate care unit. The activities can take place in cooperation with experts in several specialties, such as specialists in internal medicine, surgeons, and neurologists. We manage a total of three intensive care or intermediate care units in Uusimaa. Our division includes the HUS Simulation Center, and Training center, a unit that provides research, education, and expert services. ### Equipment Maintenance division --- We provide equipment cleaning, disinfection and sterilization services and act as an expert in the work for preventing the spread of infections. ## Traineeship To apply for training that is part of a medical decree, please use [HUS's centralized application service for traineeships](/en/research-and-education/teaching/centralized-application-service-internship-and-practical-training "Centralized application service for internship and practical training in medicine"). The Center for Perioperative and Intensive Care only accepts medical students who have completed the course on anesthesiology.
