Our unit has one procedure room. **The most common procedures are** - coronary artery angiography - coronary balloon angioplasty - cardiac pacemaker implantation If required, we perform heart ultrasounds on patients staying on the wards or being admitted for procedures. Most of the heart ultrasounds are performed at the [outpatient clinic](https://www.hus.fi/en/patient/hospitals-and-other-units/peijas-hospital/joint-outpatient-clinic-and-day-ward-peijas). Our unit works in cooperation with [Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease Ward S3](https://www.hus.fi/en/patient/hospitals-and-other-units/peijas-hospital/internal-medicine-ward-s2-and-internal-medicine) and the adjacent monitoring wards. We perform both planned and urgent procedures. Peijas Cardiac Unit is open during office hours. Emergency services outside office hours are available in the [Meilahti Cardiac Unit](https://www.hus.fi/en/patient/hospitals-and-other-units/meilahti-tower-hospital/cardiac-unit-meilahti-tower-hospital). We kindly ask that patients arrive to the cardiac unit with an escort only if it is necessary. **Patients’ escorts cannot stay in our unit before or during the procedure.** We train future health care professionals in our unit. We hope that you will allow students to participate in your care.
