Today marks the beginning of a coronavirus campaign aimed at 20–29-year-old young adults, which is being organised jointly by Helsinki and its partners Espoo, Vantaa, the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare (THL), and the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS). The campaign will continue until 19 April.

Corona avoid contacts

The campaign is supplemented by an influencer communications portion arranged jointly by the cities and HUS, which involves social media influencers who can reach a wide and multilingual target group of local residents.

In addition to this, an Instagram Live event focused on the mental health impacts of the coronavirus crisis will be organised over the course of the campaign. During the event, a youth mental health specialist and social media influencer will respond to questions submitted by viewers.

Increasing concern about infections among young adults

The number of coronavirus infections among young adults has increased, as has the number of severe cases of COVID-19 with the introduction of virus variants.

Despite this, some still get together for house parties or other celebrations, neglect quarantine orders and occasionally fail to report all exposed persons to infection trackers to prevent quarantine orders.

Despite the difficult phase of the epidemic, the cities in question, HUS and THL urge everyone to hold out and observe the most important of the effective restrictions: avoiding close contact.
