Changes to the laboratory appointment booking system
Keywords:The HUS laboratory appointment booking system will have a new look in March. The functionalities of the system have also been improved.
The aim of the changes in the appointment booking system is to make it even easier to book an appointment electronically. In the future, the system will automatically suggest the first available appointments for the service selected by the client. It is also possible to filter the available times by region.
Making an appointment is recommended when arriving for laboratory tests, but some HUS laboratories also have a queue number system.
“Booking an appointment electronically also makes it easy to change or cancel the appointment if necessary. We hope our clients always remember to cancel an appointment if they are unable to use it,” says Customer Services Manager Juha Westerholm.
When booking a laboratory appointment, it should be noted that most laboratory tests do not require fasting. This means clients can also book an appointment for the afternoon, when there are usually more options available.
“Before making an appointment, it’s a good idea to check with the referring unit to find out whether the test requires, for example, fasting.”
Nearly 1.6 million laboratory visits were booked via the appointment booking system in 2023.
Chat service is also an option for clients using the website
In addition to the appointment booking system, clients using the HUS website also have access to chatbot and chat services.
“Our experts respond to questions concerning appointments and the business hours for different locations via the chat service.”
A chatbot serves clients 24 hours a day. Customer service representatives can be contacted via the live chat on weekdays from 8:00–15:00.
In addition to the electronic appointment booking system, clients can also book a laboratory appointment by calling the customer service number (tel. +358 9 471 86800, on weekdays 7:30–15:30).
“We receive an average of nearly 2,000 calls per day and queuing times may be long, especially in the mornings. The best time to call is in the afternoon and at the end of the week. We recommend using the appointment booking system to make an appointment,” says Westerholm.
