Clinical dentistry

​The focus areas in clinical dentistry are:

  • prosthetics and bite rehabilitation
  • periodontics i.e. treatment of diseases of the tissue surrounding and supporting teeth
  • cariology and endodontics i.e. treatment of diseases of the dental hard tissue
  • pedodontics i.e. dentistry specialising in dental care for children

 
At HUS, dentists specialised in these fields as well as specialising dentists examine and treat patients with dental diseases, diseases of the jaw or the temporomandibular joints, or complex bite problems or tissue defects who are entitled to specialised medical care (Uniform criteria for access to non-emergency treatment, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health).
