In the doctor's appointment

The most common reasons to visit the maternity outpatient clinic include

  • high blood pressure
  • twin pregnancy
  • premature contractions
  • abnormal presentation of the baby (breech position, for example)
  • sugar metabolism disorder (gestation diabetes)
  • evaluation of the method of delivery, when the mother has had a Cesarean section or the baby is suspected to grow too big in relation to the size of the mother

The doctor is an obstetrician or a doctor specialising in obstetrics and gynecology. When necessary, services of other specialists at the hospital are available (internists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, social workers).
