Hospital visits during pregnancy

Most pregnant mothers have two ultrasound screenings during pregnancy: an early pregnancy ultrasound examination and a structural ultrasound scan.

During pregnancy, the health of the mother and/or the baby sometimes requires monitoring in specialised care. This monitoring is carried out at maternity outpatient clinics. They offer the services of midwives and doctors and various specialists for the treatment of different problems. Such problems include diabetes, substance misuse and fear of childbirth, for example. Furthermore, HUS maternity hospitals have wards for mothers who need hospital care during pregnancy.
