Cardiology

In cardiology, we treat illnesses of the heart that require specialized health care. The most commonly treated issues are coronary artery disease, various arrhythmias, cardiac insufficiency, and valvular heart diseases. Our patients mainly live in the HUS region, but with a doctor’s referral, anyone can receive treatment at the Center regardless of their place of residence in Finland. Cardiology is a department of the Heart and Lung Center.

Treatment of the following has been nationally centralized at the Center:

• Difficult congenital heart defects in adults
• Examination and treatment of hereditary arrhythmia
• Examination and treatment of hereditary cardiomyopathy, and
• Heart transplantations.

We are on-call 24/7, every day of the year, in case of sudden heart attacks.
