Ultrasound scans

Ultrasound scans produce real time images for example of the womb, pancreas, liver and kidneys. Decisions about possible further examinations or procedures can be made based on the clear and detailed ultrasound images of the targeted body part.
Ultrasound scanning does not involve ionising radiation, nor does it cause any side effects. Fine needle aspiration is used to obtain samples of the detected changes during ultrasound scanning.
