Research: Gastrointestinal symptoms and microbiota in Parkinson’s disease. Treatment and symptom measurement in advanced Parkinson’s disease. Neural growth factors as treatment for Parkinson’s disease. Research funding: Academy of Finland, European Comission, Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Finnish Medical Foundation, Finnish Parkinson Foundation. Most important achievements: First to describe alterations of gut microbiota in neurodegenerative disease. First intracerebral drug infusion in Finland.
