Töölö Hospital is part of Helsinki University Hospital. The hospital is specialized in orthopedics and traumatology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, hand surgery and maxillofacial surgery. Around 16 000 operations are carried out in 15 operating rooms every year.

There are intensive care beds, intensive monitoring beds and hospital beds, approximately 200 beds altogether. In addition, the hospital comprises several specialist outpatient clinics and units that provide diagnostic and therapeutic services such as laboratory and imaging services and physiotherapy

Töölö hospital is one of the largest trauma centers in northern Europe with a catchment area of 2 million inhabitants. The hospital provides emergency care 24 hours a day 7 days a week. 20.000 trauma patients are treated yearly. In disasters, Töölö hospital is the organizing center of specialized medical care for the whole Uusimaa region.

Each year, more than 3 000 patients undergo neurosurgical treatment at Töölö Hospital. HUS Neurosurgery is world-famous for its expertise in all subsections of neurosurgery. It is considered the leading center in Europe in the microneurosurgical treatment of cerebral blood vessel diseases and complex brain tumors, and it is also ranked among the very best units in the world.

Every year, nearly 100-200 neurosurgeons from all around the world visit Helsinki to learn how to apply the latest microsurgical techniques in neurosurgery.
