The surgical puncture and wound outpatient clinic for patients operated in the Breast Surgery Unit is open without an appointment. Please register with the secretary when you arrive.

The Breast Surgery Unit is internationally recognised as a leading Finnish institution in the surgical treatment of breast cancer. It is the largest breast surgery unit in the Nordic countries and treats over 1,000 breast cancer patients each year.

The unit comprises a ward and an outpatient clinic. At the unit, new and locally recurring breast cancers are operated on. Patients with benign tumours, infections and inflammatory conditions of the breast, breast reductions and women who are carriers of gene mutations increasing the risk of breast cancer are treated, as well. . Immediate breast reconstructions are performed in collaboration with the HUS Department of Plastic Surgery.

Other important collaboration partners in addition to the Department of Plastic Surgery include the HUS Department of Oncology, the HUS Medical Imaging Centre and the HUSLAB Department of Pathology. ​
