The hospital provides treatment of dermatological diseases for the population of Helsinki metropolitan area (1,3 million inhabitants). For allergic diseases, specialist-level care is provided, and for venereal diseases, an ambulatory service is provided. The hospital takes care of ca. 101 000 annual outpatient visits at the various policlinics. The hospital has two wards, one for adults and one for children, and they provide care for 7800 patient days per year.
The Division of Dermatology and Venereology and the Division of Allergology are located in the Skin and Allergy Hospital. The hospital staff includes 56 physicians representing eight different disciplines, 148 nurses and 41 persons of other staff.
The medical disciplines represented in our hospital include dermatology and allergology, venereology, pulmonal allergology, ORL-diseases, paediatric allergology, internal medicine, opthalmology and clinical physiology. The hospital also houses a histopathology laboratory (two dermatopathologists), and a mycology laboratory, both administratively belonging to HUSLAB .
