Unit specialities: Pulmonary diseases and allergology
The Pulmonary Diseases and Allergology Outpatient Clinic examines and provides versatile treatment for patients afflicted with different kinds of pulmonary diseases. Our operations are based on co-operation with the local health centres and other outpatient care units. Patients suffering from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sarcoidosis, pulmonary tuberculosis, and other pulmonary infections and pulmonary fibrosis attend outpatient examinations.
In addition, the outpatient clinic performs lung cancer clarifications and monitors lung cancer patients receiving cytotoxic chemotherapy. Patients who are undergoing diagnostic examinations of sleep apnoea and who receive treatment with nasal CPAP therapy form a large share of the clinic’s patients. In addition, the outpatient clinic treats respiratory insufficiency caused by a range of reasons with different respiratory supports, and the outpatient clinic also provides consultation support for the Rekola group home and other units with regard to long-term mechanical ventilation.
