Call the emergency number 112 in emergencies (e.g. difficult shortness of breath, large bleeding wound, or seizing child). Paramedics will arrive to assess the need for treatment and transport the patient to the correct place of treatment.

The Pediatric Emergency Department provides treatment in all medical specialties for patients aged from 0 to 15 years old.

Specialized Health Care Emergency Service
Open 24 hours a day. Patients arrive to the specialized health care emergency department with a doctor's referral or, in emergencies, without a referral.

Mon–Fri, between 8:00 and 16:00, the primary treatment place in sudden illnesses and minor injuries is your local health center, and after 16:00 the Joint Emergency Service in New Children's Hospital.
The Pediatric Emergency Department also houses a clinic for follow-up care of injuries.

Symptom navigator and nurse chat

The website provides information about the treatment of fever, cough, head cold, ear pain, or mild breathing difficulties (available in Finnish). The website also offers a nurse chat where you can ask questions about your child’s health. Both services are free of charge. The nurse chat also has Swedish language service available.
