The ward is open round-the-clock, every day.
Visiting hours: every day 1.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
The infection ward treats severe, acute infectious diseases. Patients are admitted to the inpatient ward from emergency clinics, intermediate care units or intensive care units. In addition, patients are transferred to the ward from other inpatient wards, such as the surgical inpatient ward, to receive further treatment for infection problems. A small minority of patients are admitted to the inpatient ward based on a physician’s referral.
In the main, the infection ward treats the following special level patient groups requiring specialised medical care:
- Patients suffering from a severe, acute systemic infection
- Patients requiring isolation due to their illness
- Patients with an undefined fever or whose diagnosis or treatment is otherwise particularly challenging
The ward has 14 beds:6 rooms with a single bed, 4 rooms with two beds
The ward has plans in place and the staff have been trained to handle new notifiable diseases and their threats, such as haemorrhagic fevers and threats caused by biological weapons.
