Patients are admitted to the rheumatology outpatient clinic for examinations and treatment based on a physician’s referral. The clinic has no emergency operations. Patients who are suspected of suffering from an inflammatory rheumatic disease (rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, systemic rheumatic diseases, vasculitis) are referred to the rheumatology outpatient clinic, if there is a wish to rule out an inflammatory rheumatic disease or if the opinion of specialised medical care is needed regarding the activity or treatment of a rheumatic disease.

 

In most cases, the treatment is implemented in co-operation with basic health care where patients are then referred for further follow-up when the disease is in a quiescent stage.
