We arrange tours to the Delivery and Maternity Wards in Finnish and Swedish. Tours for first-time mothers in Finnish are held on every uneven Wednesday from 18:00 to 20:00, and tours in Swedish are held every third Monday from 18:00 to 20:00. For mothers who have given birth before, tours in Finnish are held on Wednesdays from 15 to 15:30, and tours in Swedish are held every sixth Monday from 14:00 to 14:30.

Book an appointment for an orientation visit beforehand by calling the Maternity Outpatient Clinic tel. 019 380 1417 (on weekdays 13:00–14:30). The recommended time for a visit is around gestational week 36.

We will look at the delivery rooms and maternity ward during the visit. The visits for first-time mothers will provide more detailed information about the start of labor, leaving for the hospital to give birth, pain relief, childbirth, and the postpartum period. We also reserve some time for questions and discussion. Your partner/support person is welcome to join you.

MIDWIVES’ Q&As

We organize Midwives’ Q&A Evenings in co-operation with maternity clinics (Lohja, Vihti, Nummela, Inkoo, Siuntio and Kirkkonummi). During these events, we go over the childbirth process and pain management, focusing especially on natural pain relief methods. You may ask the midwives questions about anything that is on your mind regarding childbirth.

Additional information about the schedule for Midwives’ Q&A Evenings is available at maternity clinics and on the Facebook page of Lohja Hospital Delivery Ward.
