The Emergency Department cares for internal medicine, and surgical and general medicine patients who have been taken acutely ill. The Joint Emergency Department, or the emergency services of the health centre and specialised medical care, operates in the same building at Jorvi Hospital.
The health centre emergency services are open on weekdays outside office hours and on weekends. During office hours (8:00am to 4:00pm), patients from Espoo and Kauniainen should contact the emergency department at their local health centre. Patients from Kirkkonummi should contact the emergency department at their local health centre during weekdays and weekends at 8:00am to 8:00pm.
Suspected fractures of both adult and child residents of Espoo are treated at the Jorvi Hospital emergency department. If you suspect a fracture, please call your own health centre during weekdays 8:00am - 16:00pm. In the evenings and during weekends, you can call the number 116 117 to receive instructions on how to proceed.
Specialised medical care emergency services operate round the clock. The Specialised Medical Care Emergency Department admits patients based on a physician’s referral or, in emergencies, without a referral. To be admitted to the Emergency Department at the health centre, no referral is necessary. Patients are treated based on urgency, which is why waiting times may become long.
