Keywords:- adolescent psychiatry
The Pasila Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic and the intensive rehabilitation team form part of the Adolescent Psychiatry Rehabilitation Unit.
We refer patients to the Rehabilitation Unit from other units of HUS Adolescent Psychiatry on the basis of their rehabilitation needs assessment.
Our Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic is intended for adolescents presenting with psychotic symptoms and/or neuropsychiatric disorders (including ADHD, Asperger’s, Tourette’s, or other autism-spectrum disorders), and having an impaired functional capacity.
Our rehabilitation is based on your individual rehabilitation plan, which we will prepare together with you and which we will review regularly. We will discuss with you when your rehabilitation will end and what further plans need to be made.
Our goal is to help you manage your life, either independently or with support measures. Our rehabilitation aims to reinforce your resources and functional capacity, to control your psychological symptoms and mental limitations, and to improve your life skills.
The Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic is a multi-discipline unit. We work with you, your family and your network in complete confidentiality.
Intensive rehabilitation team
The intensive rehabilitation team is intended for all adolescents being cared for in Adolescent Psychiatry who have impaired functional capacity (regardless of what their diagnosis is). Intensive rehabilitation is where those young people are referred who may benefit from intensive rehabilitation in their living environment. Our intensive rehabilitation is given in the form of short interventions several times a week. It does not replace other forms of outpatient care. The unit responsible for your care will prepare a service request on the basis of which we will design an intensive rehabilitation period for you. Responsibility for your care will remain with your original unit for the duration of that period.
Intensive rehabilitation is simply an enhanced form of outpatient care, and it will be provided according to your needs in your everyday environment, for instance at home or at school. The methods used may include desensitization exercises, coaching, family work, and networking.
Neuropsychiatry team
Our neuropsychiatry team is responsible for diagnosing autism-spectrum disorders and for providing examinations and consultations for the entire HUS area (autism-spectrum disorders, ADHD/ADD, Tourette’s, tic symptoms, etc.). Responsibility for your care will remain with your original unit for the duration of the consultation.
