HUS hospitals employ almost 25,000 professionals. In addition, subsidiaries, the largest of which are HUS Real Estate Ltd. and Uudenmaan Sairaalapesula Oy, employ a staff of around 600.
The biggest personnel group, nursing staff, accounts for approximately 54 per cent of all employees, while about 13 per cent of personnel are physicians. The share of special employees, i.e. social workers, psychologists, therapists, physicists and researchers, of HUS professionals is about five per cent. Other personnel, such as nutritional and sanitation personnel, logistics and IT professionals and administrative personnel, accounts for more than a quarter, 28 per cent.
