The Helsinki University Hospital Heart and Lung Center is the leading center of heart, lung and esophageal diseases in Finland. The Heart and Lung Center treats patients in the specialist areas of pulmonary diseases, cardiology, cardiac surgery and general thoracic surgery.

Every year, we provide over 60 000 outpatient or consultation statements and perform over 12 000 cardiac procedures, over 1 200 cardiac operations and over 1 000 operations on the thoracic cavity, including lung cancer surgery.

The field of pulmonary diseases involves the treatment of various diseases of the lungs, such as, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, rare pulmonary diseases and sleep apnoea. Our pulmonary specialists are in charge of diagnosing and planning the treatment of lung cancer patients.

We offer round-the-clock emergency services in all our specialist areas and monitor our quality of care, establishing that our results are good.
